Thanks for the info.

How are the stats for Lakeland, NY (near State Fair Blvd)? Is it a good area to live?

Wait, you do realize that it is in the Solvay SD, right? So, if you lived in Solvay, as you mentioned, wouldn't you be familiar with Lakeland?

Yes, but I'm not familiar with that area at all. It's not near where I live and in a totally different neighborhood. It's near the fairgrounds. That's all I know about it. I saw the area and checked it out, but don't know how it would be to live there. I don't know all of the Geddes area. Is it like the rest of "Solvay"?

It is pretty much old, solid suburbia. Solvay varies, as mentioned before. So, Lakeland isn't like say Piercefield, which is a nice, old money/neat looking area of Solvay, but it isn't gritty like parts of eastern Solvay near the city line. Thanks so much for this info! Does it equal to, say, North Syracuse in quality of area/community?

I’d say so. It is smaller, but much of it was built from just after World War 2 until the 1980’s or so. You may have some newer homes as well.

North Syracuse is a village that has about 6800 people, but the school district has about 60,000 people.

Solvay has about 10-11,000 in its SD, with some HS students coming from Lyncourt in the town of Salina(has own K-8th grade SD/school and about 2500 people live there).

I've noticed that lots of areas in Syracuse have village taxes, which make the total taxes high. Are there advantages to living in a village?
It's a bummer to not buy a relevant/desirable house due to its high taxes.
