Hi, I'm looking into moving to Syracuse area from Watertown, NY.
I grew up in Liverpool but haven't been back in years. Trying to find a small house (don't need anything more than 1000 sq ft) with a fenced in back yard for the dog, preferably under $100,000 ranch.
I'm 57 so don't care about schools but prefer low taxes.
Not big on living in the city but would consider it if I had a decent size lot with space between the houses.

Is there anything else you are looking for? Pretty much look in older suburbia in towns like Salina, Geddes and parts of DeWitt, among others.

Would like at least a one car garage to get the car out of the snow and be able to walk the dog.

Yeah, I would look in those towns, as you can what you are looking for at an affordable price.
This listing in the Galeville portion of the town of Salina(L’pool SD) comes to mind: https://www.cnyrealtor.com/index.php...ESC&row=4&pos=
You could likely get it for under $100k too.
While a little over 1000 sq.ft., this town of Clay(North Syracuse SD) listing looks to be a better fit: https://www.cnyrealtor.com/index.php...SC&row=16&pos=

After seeing how much taxes are maybe just leaving the state is a better option.

Keep in mind that the taxes listed aren’t what you necessarily pay, as they don’t include exemptions. So, that is something to keep in mind.
Also, given home prices elsewhere, unless you are off the beaten path, the home price is likely to be higher in terms of listed price and likely overall cost. So, that is another thing to keep in mind.

I'm paying $2000 taxes after exemptions a year on a small house in Watertown. I'm looking for my last place to buy and retire in.

So, is that your limit in terms of property taxes?
This looks like a good fit: https://cnyrealtor.com/index.php?src...SC&row=21&pos=
