Thumbs up Syracuse Area #4 fastest growing real estate market

According to CNNMoney.com, the Syracuse, NY market is in the Top 10 fastest growing real estate markets in the US.

10 fastest growing real estate markets - Syracuse, N.Y. (4) - Money Magazine

Check out that photo they used to represent Syracuse! Not so good compared to the high quality beautiful photos used to represent the other nine markets. Couldn't they find a better photo of Syracuse.....like one of mine?

it looks like upstate ny cities dominate the top 5...Rochester is 2nd and Buffalo is 5th. Atleast for Syracuse they gave a picture that gave some regional identity (skyline)..for Rochester they just gave a picture of a typical suburban residential street that could be in anytown, usa.

Good for Syracuse! Only wish they would not overlook the market in my area so consistently. I guess we were on the same wavelength as you posted about the housing market in Syracuse just awhile after I did in a thread about Binghamton!

Can anyone verify whether this growth really seems to be taking place? Are prices climbing there? Does anyone know if financing is difficult to come by there?

I am considering moving my family from Sacramento to Central New York. Sacramento was named the most toxic real estate market in a similar story (-30% y-o-y price change). Fortunately we've already sold our house here just before the crash. I can say that the stories about Sacramento are accurate - it really is very bad here.

According to data posted every week in the real estate section of the Post-Standard, Syracuse's local paper, real estate values have indeed grown over the last year. Prices here remain strong because there was never a "bubble" to burst, prices in the last decade grew with inflation as opposed to the rampant price escalation seen in much of the rest of the country.
