We went to the Taste last night, what a zoo! I guess I'm getting too old for this stuff, earsplitting "music", incredible crowds, long lines for overpriced food, not to mention the ungodly mess due to the lack of adequate trash containers. Sorry to sound so negative, but sometimes too much success can be a bad thing. There must be a better place to hold this thing, somewhere with more room and better facilities.

I'm one of those few people that love the State Fair more when the crowds exceed 90,000. When there's too few people at an event I stand out too much. It's nice to go somewhere where the focus is not on me for a change and I can just be one among thousands in a crowd.
About Clinton Square. I think Syracuse holds roughly half all major festivals in downtown. Most in Clinton Square... a couple in nearby Hanover Square and Columbus Circle. It's great to have so much activity in the city center, but sometimes I wish I didn't need to go down city for most Syracuse area events. I was just telling someone the other day that I'd probably attend the Taste of Syracuse if it was somewhere in the northern suburbs where you wouldn't have to worry so much about parking or safety and it is close by without being such a hassle to get there. I'm not sure which events should move, but it would be nice to have more large events at Onondaga Lake Park. A long time ago many more festivals were held there.

I think it should be spread throughout Downtown more instead of having everything in just one public square.
If you do move it, Onondaga Lake Park or the State Fairgrounds would be good places to have it.

The fair is a little different, it seems to accommodate the huge crowds much more gracefully than the downtown venue, with better parking, crowd control and sanitation. Speaking of parking, the garage across from the Federal Building is a trip and a half. It's everyman for himself in there. I could just imagine the chaos if this edifice was located on Long Island, which is Road Rage central. None of this "after you Alfonse, no you first Gaston" stuff that was going on last night. Central New Yorkers can be proud of the patience they exhibit in those challenging traffic situations.
