We are moving to Syracuse mid to end of November. We were originally going to buy a house before moving, but after tons of searching we can not find what we are looking for right now and do not want to settle. We have decided to search for a rental house to stay in for 6-12 months while we decide where in Syracuse we want to live. Problem----I honestly can not find rentals outside the city and we really do not want to do an apartment because we have 2 little children and a dog. We want a yard even if it is 1/4 acre. I want to be in a safe area with reasonable distances to grocery stores, parks, etc. Maybe Baldwinsville, Fayetteville, etc. Can anybody give me any advice??? We are in such a rock and a hard place right now!

If you are working with a realtor, ask him or her to search the MLS for you. The MLS also has rentals.

Thanks for all of the suggestiong. The problem that we are running into is that we only want to rent for 9 months or so and there aren't alot of houses out there for rent and those that are want at least a year or sometimes 18 month leases.

I am also looking for a house to rent in the outer parts of syracuse and there isn't much out there or i can't afford them. But I've found more people will post on craigslist than any other site. If you haven't tried that yet.
