Default East Syracuse Hotel

Is anyone familiar with were the Residence Inn by Marriott Syracuse hotel is? Would this be considered a nice area and / or hotel?

Any help is greatly appreciated

Yes, it is a nice area and that part of East Syracuse(Carrier Circle area), has a bunch of hotels to choose from. It is close to the Thurway too.

From my perspective, Carrier Circle is not a nice area, but it is perfectly safe. Very industrial with lots of abandoned buildings. That East Syracuse- Carrier Circle area used to be where all the manufacturing plants were before many of them closed down. East Syracuse is one of Syracuse's more dumpy looking suburbs.

The only reason for so many hotels in that area is the Thruway exit. Otherwise, it's a crummy area for hotels since it is often visitors' first impression of the Syracuse area.

True, the circle itself needs some help, but the rest of the area is fine. Go past the hotels going east on 298 and you will see some nice housing developments in Collamer. My in-laws live in that area.

If you want a hotel in a more active, a more typically suburban locale where you can get a better feel for the area...you may want to check out the hotels in Salina. There are couple hotels on South Bay Road near the airport near Interstate 81....one is a Candlewood Suites, the other is a Holiday Inn Express. Both are rather new. Never stayed in them, so I can't guarantee if they are run well. But you'll probably get a better vibe of where most people live if you stay there rather than in the Carrier Circle area.

Now if you want the nicest area with hotels...check out Route 31 near the 481 exit in the Town of Clay. It has a Fairfield Inn and Hampton Inn (brand new). Downside is that it located many more miles away from the Thruway or the City.

Yeah, there are plenty of hotels in the Town of Salina, espeically the Liverpool area, around 7th North Avenue. South Bay Rd. in the North Syracuse area is another good choice like bellafinzi said.
