Pot, meet kettle.
It's unwise to criticize others' posts as ignorant when you've repeatedly made claims throughout this thread about Downtown Syracuse being a block or two then done... when it clearly isn't by any measure. Even Armory Square itself is more than a block or two.
Especially worth noting - your repeated calling of other posters delusional when they make claims about Buffalo, while making the above exceptionally ignorant claims about Syracuse.
When someone countered your arts scene criticism, you countered with not caring about the arts. But, from page 2, let us remind you what you said:

OMG, not even comparible. I lived in Buffalo and used to have to travel to syracuse alot. I thought it was the worse downtown of any city that size. There is nothing in downtonw syracuse. Everythings boarded up, no tall buildings, no art scene. Horrible downtown. Buffalo is not perfect by any means but three times better than Syracuse. Those who are saying Syracuse is better are quite frankly lieing never been to syracuse, never been to buffalo, or very dillusional. I think Syracuse's downtown looks like a ghost town. I actually was considering moving to Syracuse at one point until I went there and seen there downtown. Was so put off. Syracuse really needs to do something and stop hating on Buffalo's downtown which is much better in every area. Trust me dont kid yourself there really not even comparible. Buffalo is much larger. I know a girl who worked with me in Buffalo who was from Syracuse and couldn't believe how much bigger downtown Buffalo was to Syracuse. I think Albany has a better downtown than Syracuse. I think it is more comparible to a slightly bigger version of Utica or something, but definately not close to Buffalo.

Your right, I admit my appraisal of Syracuse was a bit unfair maybe even harsh at some points. Maybe that came from reading post after post of exaggerated and unfair assessment of downtown Buffalo. We can go tit for tat all day long, however, I, as I am sure you, have better things to do. Basically we are both sticking up for our prospective cities. Opinions are not facts, they are just that, opinions.
However, and this is the last thing I will say regarding this issue. It seemed like you all wanted to take a much smaller downtown and judge it superior towards a much bigger downtown and everybody on this forum was just giddy in excitement over your analysis. Everyone was rip roaring in the Syracuse forum of oh how great their downtown is. Bashing Buffalo in the process.
However, it backfired on all of you since there was someone actually reading these posts from Buffalo and could actually defend it. So at this point, please spare me the tears. Please someone be brave and go post all of these bias opinions of downtown Syracuse being superior to downtown Buffalo in the Buffalo forum. After all, it's not hard to defend Syracuse on the Syracuse forum. Would you post the same claims on the Buffalo one? I hardly doubt it, so this will be my last post here. You can have the last word in I could care less.

I like Syracuse, but there's no comparison. Buffalo's downtown is much much much better.
And to the person who said Syracuse is "laid out better," you need to pick up a map. Buffalo has an elegant city plan. Syracuse's streets and highways are not as ridiculous as Rochester, but there's just no comparison to Buffalo.

I am from Rochester, lived there my whole life. I just moved to Buffalo and I do love it here. I am not very biased, only when I get mad but I love both my WNY cities. They are both on the large side of medium sized metros. I do believe Rochester is better taken care of though.
Syracuse vs Buffalo eh? Both very blue collar... comparing the two metros... crap... You can't Buffalo is much larger. Almost double in size. Downtowns... I have been to both quite a few times. Which one do I like more?... Buffalo. It has a large city feel to it. Beautiful architecture and tall buildings. Syracuse has somewhat nice architecture. Nothing compared to Buffalo, but in Syracuse's defense Buffalo has always been much bigger so buildings could never been as plentiful. As far as downtowns go Buffalo by a long shot...
But come on guys. Buffalo has an unfair advantage. If your going to truely compare cities fairly. You must compare cities with the same metro size. Buffalo wins by default. Bigger metro, much bigger skyline. Does Syracuse have a skyline? jk
Burbs... There both quite close both kinda suck. My family lives in Baldwinsville, Cicero and N Syracuse. There all crap. Garbage places. Empty houses everywhere. They just don't seem to care about the properties. New houses are being built near the old abanded ones. Come on have some class. But same for Buffalo. But both have at least one nice burb. Syracuse has Skaneateles and Buffalo has Clarence. I would pick Skaneateles over Clarence anyday.
To raise a family I would probably pick either.
Where would I pick to live...? Buffalo hands down... I am obsessed with architecture. But if you bought me a house Skaneateles it is!

Actually, Syracuse has the Fayetteville-Manlius area, Onondaga Hill, the Radisson community in the B'ville area and some areas of DeWitt too that are nice. Heck, even in the city of Syracuse, the Meadowbrook neighborhood rivals most suburbs.
Also, where are you getting all of these abandoned house in the Northern suburbs of Syracuse from?

They are both rust belt cities who have a big college presence. The both have blighted areas and dark creepy spots. Buffalo doesnt get the snow fall and averages more sunny days. Buffalo has in its borders on of Americas 10 most desired neighborhoods, the Elmwood Village. We have a distinction as a top ten art city as well. We have many, many things going on in our city center. I'm sure Syracuse is a wonderful place as well. try having some civic pride while still being courteous to others who are proud of their home town as well.

Northern Blvd is an industrial area, hardy what most consider Cicero.
I'll give you this: there are a few neighborhoods in Cicero where homeowners do not keep up the landscaping on their property. I can actually name a couple. I know someone who lives in one of them. I've made the comment to a friend that I'm happy I don't live on that street. All the overgrown landscaping would probably drive me crazy.
