Inexpensive town near Cicero
We are a family with four children looking to possibly move to the area. It seems like there are some job prospects for my husband in Cicero. Can anyone recommend a friendly, safe town with good schools and yet inexpensive housing that would be commutable to Cicero. We don't know much about the area so any advice is very much appreciated.

Actually, you can find some inexpensive housing right in Cicero. Another town next to it with even more affordable housing is the town of Salina. Just to let you know there are 3 big school districts in the Northern suburbs. There's North Syracuse, which includes almost all of the town of Cicero, the Eastern half of the town of Salina and the Western third or so of the town of Clay. Then, there's Liverpool SD. It includes the Western half of the town of Salina and almost all of the Western 2/3's of the town of Clay. Lastly is the Baldwinsville SD. It includes almost all of the towns of Van Buren and Lysander and the Kimbrook development in the town of Clay. There are villages with the name of each of the school districts too. Meaning there's a village of North Syracuse, a village of Liverpool and a village of Baldwinsville. you can find some affordable and nice housing in each of these districts and the housing in each varies greatly. All are pretty much good school districts too. All are pretty big school districts too. Baldwinsville is the smallest of the three, with Liverpool next and North Syracuse being the biggest and the second biggest in Onondaga County to the Syracuse City SD. Liverpool is the most "diverse" with North Syracuse next and Baldwinsville third. Also, the high school in the North Syracuse district is called Cicero-North Syracuse High. In Baldwinsville, the official name of their high school is Charles W. Baker High. Here's some more information on each school district.

https://www.nystart.gov/publicweb/County.do?year=2007&county=Oswego (broken link) (the Central Square SD is close to Cicero and actually the community of Brewerton, which straddles the Onondaga/Oswego County line is completely in that district. Some of that community is in the town of Cicero too.)

Meant Eastern third of the town of Clay for the North Syracuse School District, by the way. My mistake.

You could also check out Central Square. Great little town just up the road with a good school district.

I agree, Cicero meets your criteria. If you can't find what you want in Cicero, look just to the west in the Town of Clay. Lots of nice neighborhoods off Bear and Buckley Roads.
