What I mean by large is that Liverpool's graduating class size is around 1,000 kids and Cicero-North Syracuse is around 800. In contrast, Bville and FM averages 280. I believe the average individual class size (ie., an algebra class) is around 25 in all of the school districts. School taxes are all about the same as well. Just depends on how big of a school you want your kids going to. For me, personally I want my child to be 1 of 280 rather than 1 of 1000. I live in Radisson and I really enjoy it. A great community.

That's not true about the class sizes. Actually, C-NS has bigger class sizes than Liverpool considering C-NS has about 2400 in grades 10-12 and Liverpool has 2700 in grades 9-12. B'ville's Baker High has about 1400 kids in grades 10-12 and if they had 9th grade at their HS, they would be 3rd biggest HS in Onondaga County. I believe that West Genesee High in Camillus and Syracuse City's Henninger High on the Northside are next in size in terms of high schools. You can check it out here: https://www.nystart.gov/publicweb/Co...ounty=Onondaga

It's changed a lot and people have been either moving out or the families have had all of their kids graduate. There are only about 2700 students at Liverpool High right now. So, that means that there are about 700-750 or so in each grade. That's still big, but not like it was 20-30 years ago.

Thanks for the additional explanations everybody.
Hypothetical question...if the Cicero/NS and/or Liverpool areas continue to grow...based on what you know of the townships/areas and their tendencies, do you believe they would build another HS or split the districts up?
I know it's a tough question to answer...but I'm talking 10+ years out with say...30% student capacity increase.
I guess my question comes down to, are those areas encouraging residential/commercial growth to the extent that they may end up with quite a bit of it...and in turn have a need/desire to re-zone or build another HS or Middle School? Just speculating here...so feel free to squash that thought.

Well, in the case of Liverpool, people there seem to say that their enrollment is decreasing. So, they will probably stay put, if not close a another elementary school possibly.
As for the North Syracuse SD, they are pretty steady with about 10,000 students, but it seems like the high school is growing. So, who knows with them. This is a district that had two HS's from 1968-1983(Cicero and North Syracuse High Schools). So, that could be a possibility in the future and there have been rumors flying around that they might go back to two HS's.

I doubt it. People in the Syracuse area hate change (post 1993)... especially in dealing with schools.

Actually I have heard from 2 different people, one being my Realtor that they are seriously considering splitting up the high school in CNS to Cicero HS and N SYr HS

That sounds like a really good idea... Cicero and the surrounding area (except for North Syracuse) is ENORMOUS. Mattydale, Galeville, North Syracuse and everywhere in between could easily be their own high school.

Considering that if you put grades 9-12 together in the North Syracuse SD, you would have about 3200 students, it would be a good idea. You could have more participation in school activities that way too.
BTW-Galeville is in the Liverpool SD.
