EMmom is on a distinguished road
Default Where to go in Manlius??

Okay, so my husband and I are pretty set on relocating to Manlius, but having never visited there, I plan on flying out in the next month or two for a quick trip (like 2 days) to see the area. I want to make sure this is where we want to relocate.

Can anyone give me specific places I should visit or see, to get a feel for the area, especially in the village of Manlius and surroundings towns? I have some ideas in mind, but thought I'd ask the experts who live there.
I plan on contacting a realtor in the area as well as I am sure they will have some ideas too.

Oh - Is there some sort of community center there? My daughter (3.5 yrs old) currently goes to a community center here in Paradise Valley, AZ, and takes Arts & Crafts classes and other nursery school type classes, but the class size is small and they are there for only an hour a session. Being a stay at home mom, it really works for us. Just wondering if there are places like that in the Manlius area.

Thanks to anyone with suggestions or information!

I think the Y in Fayetteville(the school district is called the Fayetteville-Manlius school district), would be a place with those activities for your youngsters. I believe it's called the East Area YMCA. You can check it out here:East Area Family YMCA - YMCA of Greater Syracuse

Also, Skaneateles also have a Community Center and is a beautiful and generally affluent community about 15 miles SW of Syracuse and about 6 miles SE of Auburn. Here's the website for their Community Center:Skaneateles Community Center - Home

You might also like the village of Liverpool, which is a walkable and pretty village just north of Syracuse on Onondaga Lake. They have Onondaga Lake Park in that area as well. Onondaga County Parks, Onondaga Lake Park

The Village of Manlius has a great area in the center with a park, two ponds, sports' fields, a playground, the library, senior center, and community center. It should be on the Village of Manlius website ckh listed - great links, btw! The Y is VERY popular here. Most of the families I know belong to it, at least seasonally.

There are 4 preschools directly in the village of Manlius, that I know of... mainly run in churches but not necessarily religious. As an another option, a lot of mothers I know belong to several playgroups with dozens of activities offered each week, if you're more just looking to keep her active and challenged.

If you'd like a referral for a realtor, ours was FANTASTIC. She was very professional and prompt in both answering and returning our calls and emails. If not, good luck on your trip!!
