Yeah, the only thing I'm not overly cheap on is my home. Certainly not unaffordable but it is my only source of debt.

I think we all have our preferences and as long we don't skimp on the things we prefer then I don't see where anybody has to justify what they do.

I couldn't have said it better. In my opinion, people shouldn't be villified for purchasing something lavish as long as they can afford it. Although I despise people who excessively flaunt status symbols or purchase something for the sole purpose of showing it off to others, I see nothing wrong with buying something upscale. It makes more sense purchasing a high quality, tangible item than spending $300 for a 1 night stay in a luxury hotel or having an expensive dinner. Tangible goods will provide value and enjoyment long after the excitement of a lavish dinner or nice vacation subsides. Just my two cents.

Thats my feeling exactly. Alot of people ask if I used to go to the casinos alot when I lived in Vegas and my response always is, I'd rather spend the $300 on something tangible than give it to a mega corporation
