I agree. It would make it easier to research that aspect of the city and offers up options in terms of education too.

Seems like a great organization. I didn't know people were talking about these kinds of things in Syracuse.

I'm still here or at least I'm back. Had computer problems this weekend and then had to work 16 hours today.
Another project that I am very interested in and makes me think Syracuse is headed in the right direction is the new connective corridor. http://connectivecorridor.syr.edu/
I just hope the project keeps moving forward and doesn't get stalled do to the economy.

The Connective corridor is really excellent. Field Operations, the company that did the plan for it, are probably the best landscape urbanism office in the world, so I hope they get to go through with it. I'm a little skeptical of the near westside, I used to volunteer down there and its one of the worst places I've been in the city, so I feel like they're probably better off starting with somewhere that is already moving on ita own. Hope it works though!

I hope the faltering economy and SU's shrinking endowment will not curtail this initiative. My biggest concern is that the Syracuse Common Council, which is easily the most incompetent governing body in CNY will use strong arm tactics to either tweak Field Operations' design or delay its implementation. Apparently, C&S Companies of Salina was brought into the mix after an out-of-town company bailed out. Cutting edge urban design is not one of C&S's strong suits per their website.

Well its up to Field Operations. If they design it to the right spec, then C&S should be just following instructions. I'd be more worried about the Common Council and the mayor's office losing steam or deciding that its too good for syracuse. I really wish someone with a brain would run for those offices one day. A college degree even would be a good start.

Knowing the Common Council, they wouldn't like anything too flashy, sophisticated, or god forbid upscale. Matt Driscoll's election as mayor marked the first time in almost a century that Syracuse was lead by a high school graduate. Given that Syracuse was once the craddle of innovation, responsible for the development of the brannock device, doctor's chair, typewriter, ATM banking, and is home to a large national university, medical school and law school makes this even more disturbing. Sadly, I think its a reflection on the constituents that remain in some of these neighborhoods. If you think that Driscoll is incompetent, many of these district common councilors are nearly brain dead.
