Default Tully and Pompey, NY

These are really terrible pictures, in comparison to how beautiful it actually is... I'll do better next time but for now, these shots are the best of what I caught.

all pics taken in the early evening of 3/31

heading north on I-81, Homer/Tully

heading into the village of Tully

blurry- Tully High School

village

heading east on rte. 80, toward Madison County

going through Apulia Station

Neil Casey's in Fabius, great nursery!

looking east on Rte. 80, coming into and overlooking the village of Fabius

took a left just inside the village and headed north on Rte. 92/Fabius-Pompey Road

Knapp's Horse Farm

Knapp's commercial dairy farm

when I was a kid, this front area of the house was a corn field and that house was newly built... maybe only 10 years ago or so-

Cemetery Road in Pompey

Cemetery Road becomes Henneberry Road when it crosses Rte. 20, this is Henneberry Road. Again, these pictures of the area don't do it a tenth of the justice it deserves. It's STUNNING

Still in Pompey but this is almost considered Manlius... you can tell. lol

one of my favorite homes, on the corner of Henneberry and Broadfield Roads

Bella, this one's for you (I winced when I took the pic, due to my thinly veiled dis-appreciation of them... but there ARE a lot of new construction homes here and this one was small. lol)

another favorite (this is also the pic above, as Henneberry Road comes to a T at Rte. 173) This is an older house - probably late 1800's or so - but it was freshly sided with vinyl a few years ago and looks wonderful!

Heading east on Seneca Turnpike/Rte. 173, going down the hill into the village of Manlius

I think this townhouse lane is called Mallard's Landing? I can't remember.

across the street, Carriage House East Apartments. For informational purposes to newcomers, Covered Bridge Apartments in the village of Liverpool are identical to these... designed and constructed by the same builder.

a store plaza - great chinese food! lol

F-M Returnables... not pretty. Absolutely not. But definitely a part of the community. It's also where John Jamelske was caught... the owner noticed how distraught the girl was and stalled to keep Jamelske there until authorities arrived.

P&C Plaza

And this is where my camera died. <sigh> Again, I apologize for the poor quality but with three toddlers yelling in the background after a day trip, it's impossible to keep my focus on the road AND take a nice picture.

I think you did a great job capturing the southeast corner of Onondaga County/southeastern suburbs of Syracuse.....especially considering the relatively low sun angle and the time of year (very early spring).

And thanks for adding those new construction photos just for me!

Nice pics! That shopping plaza with the Chinese restaurant has come along nicely. The new facade greatly improves not only the plaza but the neighboring interesection. The same owner of that plaza also purchased the Manlius Mart plaza where Harvey Drugs used to be.

Your pics of Route 80 through Fabius and Tully are excellent. Seeing them makes me want to get in my car and drive 5 hours to Highland Forest.

Thanks, Royce! I'm heading out to my mom's in Fabius today and will take better pics... my husband will be driving. :P

And we're going for a spring hike at Highland Forest when my sister in law visits next week. I'll be sure to get pics of the park then... and hopefully have time to wander around Caz for a bit and take some pictures.

It truly is a beautiful area. I would drive around a bit on my way back from college when I was a senior trying to picture where we would live after I got a job at a place like O'Brien & Gere. Sadly that wasn't to be.

I did get to hike around a good bit last summer on the newer sections of the North Country National Scenic Trail either side of Highland Park, and around Cazenovia. The volunteers of Welcome to Adirondack Mountain Club Onondaga Chapter and CNY Chapter NCTA AboutUs are doing a great job in creating a new, interesting, alternative to such better known long distance footpaths as the Appalachian Trail. The newer parts of the path are much nicer laid out than the older trails in the Park so be sure to check those out too!

Those pictures captured the essence of that part of the Syracuse area with the hills and clear and winding roads. Really nice.

On the Town of Manlius/Town of Pompey border

An old cemetery on Henneberry Road

Half of a gorgeous house (mainly behind the trees)

An assortment of bee hives...

Crossed Rte. 20 and continued onto Cemetery Road... overlooking the hilltops

turned back around, heading north on Henneberry Road

Looking east over the Oran Valley

cute little place...

The thin blue line near the horizon is Oneida Lake, about half an hour away...

Turned right/east onto Broadfield Road-

Looking across the valley to the Enders Road neighborhood in Manlius...

the Spruce Ridge development

Looking across the valley at another development, westward, while heading down the hill toward Brickyard Falls Road

LOVE this house

Condos on Troop K Road

Great pics. We tried the Saucy Swan a month or two back, very good food, very good prices. The owner was bummed because his new sign was vandalized not a week after installation, some maroon broke the head off the swan. I see he repaired it with a hopefully more miscreant-proof swan.

PineHallGirl is on a distinguished road
GREAT Photos, Proulx! Gorgeous areas surround Syracuse, it just amazes me that you can see all this beauty and only 15-20 min from the city.

Proulx, that picture of your favorite home on the corner of Henneberry & Broadfield Road...heck, I'd know that architecture backwards and front!! That's a Greek Revival farmhouse! We live in one that looks exactly like that, only in Michigan! My favorite style of architecture...classic...but drafty! I will miss my grand dame.

Thanks for taking the time to post all these great pics.
