The good thing about Syracuse's low number of manufacturing jobs is that we have less to fall if the current trend of outsourcing factory jobs continue. Rochester, Buffalo, Detroit and Grand Rapids still have a relatively large manufacturing base. So those metros could be hurting in the next few years.

The advantage Syracuse has over places like Flint and Youngstown is that Syracuse has a diverse economic base compared to those two metros.
