Yes I got rain today, yesterday, and it seems like every day too. Lots of rain too.
I'm getting pretty tired of all that thunder and lightning too.

No heavy rain at my place today, just a wetting.
I call it a "wetting" when I have light rain that only wets the ground, but doesn't penetrate the surface.
Just to prove how serious my drought is at the moment, I took these pictures of one of my trees that is shedding leaves from (what I believe is) lack of water. The grass is green because when it rains it is only watering the first half inch, but the roots of the trees and shrubs deeper down aren't getting the water they need.
You can see many yellow leaves on the tree. And today's newspaper just to prove it is today.
Here are the leaves that have already fallen.

Bellafinzi,
While you are getting little rain, I'm getting daily cloudbursts out here in the Fairmount/Camillus area, including hail and some wind shifts on Thurs that were strong, and rather alarming as they seemed a little rotational in nature (went from north, to west, to a strong south wind).
The sun tried to come out a few minutes ago, and it gave me hope. but now it's gone by to gray. I expect more rain by the end of the day.
I wish I could send it to your end of town as I am pretty sick of it...

I'm surprised that the news media either locally or nationally isn't investigating my little hole in the atmosphere where rain goes around or dries up in roughly 75% of all showers or thunderstorms.
It would make a great news story. (Just in case anyone out there in the news world is reading this...I wouldn't want to take part in it. )
It happened again today. A line of heavy showers came through and just as it hit my neighborhood, it turned into very light rain, then when it went near I-81 and over the airport it turned into heavy downpours again.
At minimum, all I'm asking for is heavy rain....the orange, red, or pink color on the radar....for about 15 minutes straight (all at once) every week. That would be enough so I wouldn't need to water most plants.
Two hours of continual heavy rain every three days would be perfect.

The blow by blow account of my drought continues.
Had a 3 minute downpour tonight. Not bad, I guess.
A total washout is in forecast for the next two days.
I'll keep you posted.

So far, I've had more sunshine than rain today.
What "washout"?
LOL

Wow. How different it is in different parts of the Syracuse area. My folks have a house in Dewitt (that they may move into eventually or perhaps not) and also one in the Outer University area. I live at a midpoint between them - in Bradford Hills. I cut all three lawns last Wednesday in anticipation of being away Friday through Sunday. By late yesterday - only five days later - all three lawns were way overgrown already and overdue for cutting.

This past Sunday all the lawns in full sun in my neighborhood were starting to turn brown and crispy. Mine was spared since most of my lawn is in full or partial shade.
Today I had a couple downpours. One was for a full five minutes! The other was only a couple minutes.
This rain really helped. I'd still love a bit more for the larger trees and shrubs though. Not positive if the rain penetrated far enough into the soil to soak the roots a foot down yet.

That's incredible, Bella- really! It has rained, here in Manlius, easily every day for the past week+. It drizzled most of the day - a decent rain early this morning - cleared up for a while and then started POURING, very suddenly. It rained for hours... with 15 minutes of the downpour starting, my front flowerbed looked drowned. Rain had filled so much that it was flowing freely over the bricks, down the walk, and into the street. The sides of the streets were absolutely gushing.
I've actually been a little worried that my plants are going to rot, with all of this rain. Crazy, this climate changing... where was it that said CNY will be the new Napa Valley, starting in the next 30 years. With milder and milder winters and all of this beautiful rain, I can see it.

We've already got the grapes and vineyards in the Finger Lakes. Now do we just stand by and wait for our houses to increase 5x to 10x in market price?
