Default Cable, Phone, Internet and utilities?

Can someone please tell me the names of the utility companies in the area. I think all I need is electric and water.

What are the options as far as communications goes such as cable, phone and internet? I see Verizon offer a FIOS package that looks very good. If I had an address I could check and see if FIOS is available in my area.

Any information is greatly appreciated.

For utilities, you will have National Grid. Many people still refer to them as Niagara Mohawk due to the fact that was the company before National grid bought them out.

For internet, cable and phone, Time Warner can do all three. I believe that Verizon has a packge with all three too, but I'm not sure if the area can get all three.

I think you would have to contact OCWA(Onondaga County Water Authority) in regards to water services.

Here's some information to look at: https://www.nationalgridus.com/niagaramohawk/

Verizon Syracuse, New York - Order Verizon Telephone | ConnectUtilities.com

Verizon | Residential & Business High Speed Internet/Broadband (DSL), Fiber-Optic and Satellite TV (FiOS and DIRECTV), Phone Plans, Bundles and Wireless

Time Warner Cable | Time Warner Cable | CentralNY (http://www.timewarnercable.com/CentralNY/ - broken link)

Central New York's Water Authority, OCWA

Here's some other examples in the area too: https://www.whitefence.com/WebObject...=basicServices

Only thing I'd add is that water is different if you're within the city of Syracuse, since they have their own municipal water department.

For internet and television I do suggest Verizon Fios--the internet is outstanding--I currently have the 50down/25 up service and couldnt be happier with it (don't pay attention to those TW commercials you see about service, etc) and Fios television is scheduled for state wide rollout this fall-- I am fortunate that I have friends that work for verizon I get it next month. From what I have seen it is incredible-true HD programming, and alot more channels

Really? Verizon will have more channels than TW? Interesting.....You might see a shift in what kind of service people will have in the area.

Alot more channels. I saw a demo at a friend of mines house (he's a verizon field tech), and he had Fios TV and one of those newer 120hz hd tvs and it was so life like it look awhile to adjust your eyes to it. I have one of those 120hz in my bedroom and even on TW its more lifelike but on Fios its incredible

And no, I am not employed by Verizon so I have nothing to gain by posting this stuff

I believe you.....I think TW will have some competition on their hands, as some look at them as a monopoly in the area.

That they were, and they will have some improvements to make in order to keep up. I think TW highest internet speed right now is 20 megs down 5/up, and Fios just changed there service to where there slowest is 20down/20up.

I think the competition will be great--it should start driving prices down as competition heats up

Heh, I wish - 10/5 and 20/5 are still offered, supposedly, since I'm currently paying Verizon for 20/5 FIOS here in Syracuse...
