Default Widening Route 31 in Clay and Cicero

Why isn't this a federal stimulus project?

Why wait a decade or more to widen Route 31 when the state could use federal money now?

IMO, Onondaga County will never be able to attract a business to the Clay Industrial Park if Route 31 in is not widened first.

This road work is not even listed as a future project here https://www.nysdot.gov/projects

I remember around the year 2000 the state planned to widen route 31 in Clay and Cicero. It did not do so... since the state claimed it didn't have enough money to do it then, but maybe in 10 years. Well, it's almost 10 years later and I haven't heard one thing about it in years! What the heck?

I don't know about this particular project, but environmental review and right-of-way acquisition are common reasons why projects in the pipeline aren't stimulus projects. That's why you see a lot of repaving and bridge repair, shorter lead time and less red tape.

The fact that the federal government doesn't have money to spend probably has a lot to do with it... not that that's ever stopped them before.

Widening Route 31 is a pathetic achievement for stimulus money when the state of California can no longer afford to pay for DNA tests for victims of sexual abuse. To say it pales in comparison is a disgusting understatement.

Though, again, I doubt the government cares... gross misuses of revenue are the rule, rather than an exception.
