You can maybe check on this one too. It's within a reasonable distance from Syracuse: 2 Bedroom Apartment

brickroad is on a distinguished road
here's something that is a bit far outside of syracuse (half-hour drive) BUT.... is a fantastic deal, is in what appears to be awesome condition, and is a whole house!

Great house / best neighborhood

i don't know if you're familiar with cazenovia, but it's a charming village on a lake that has a small liberal arts college (iirc, right around the corner from this house), restaurants, shops, a P&C, a farmers market, a beautiful lakefront park, and a real sense of community cohesiveness.... if i were to move outside the city limits, i'd choose caz, hands down.

Actually, I'm not but my husband would prefer it. We are trying to find a compromise. He likes a short commute and is about 2 miles from work in downtown right now in a room in Strathmore. I'm not so sure the rentals in Strathmore are for me - the single family homes in the middle are great, but the rentals seem to all be on the fringes near too many areas I wouldn't be comfortable in. He also likes Tipp Hill and is seeing two places there.

He went to Baldwinsville and liked it, but so far we haven't found a rental there. He went to Radisson, which I was very interested in, but he said the drive was too far for him

I am waiting for him to go over to Manlius today to check on a place - it sounds more my speed and style

Thanks for any input you might have!

Phoenix is a village in southern Oswego County, but borders on Onondaga County. It's not too far from Baldwinsville.

Solvay is a working class, blue collar western suburb of Syracuse. It has some nice parts and some parts that are "older". It's not a bad community in terms of crime or anything, but is definitely blue collar.

Here's another one in Strathmore and I just drove by the area and it is fine. It's not too far from Western Lights Plaza and Woodland Resevoir: http://syracuse.craigslist.org/apa/1272471539.html
