The one on Bridge St. is in the little plaza on the right, just before the Friendly's on Erie Blvd. East, if you're heading west on Bridge from the 690 exit (turn right at the light, once off the exit.) You'll see an Olum's Appliance on the right (maybe a third of a mile down?) and the plaza will be right after.

In Manlius, you'd head out this way on 92 (bear right at Lyndon Corners/East Genesee Street in Dewitt, just past the Wegman's) and take a left at the 5th light (comes to a T, you have to turn.) Pavone's parking lot will be just after Bruegger's Bagels. I point out the lot and not the place because it's a rushed road through Manlius and you probably wouldn't see the storefront until you're already passing it. lol

Honestly I've searched high and low for great NY style pizza (grew up in nyc for 18 years). Its really hard to come by here. (as is finding anyone who sells Knishes, or even knows what a knish is!). But, I digress.

Pavones is the closest you can come to NY style. Someone mentioned Johnny's, which is over in Nottingham Plaza next to the P&C's which used to be Peters Market. Johnny's is also pretty darn good.

Twin Trees is terrible. I'm sorry, but anyone who cuts their pizza into strips instead of triangles should be shot. How do you fold a strip in half to eat it!? BUT, everyone in central new york thinks its great. It might be, but its NOT new york style pizza. I refuse to eat it solely on the fact they cut it in strips though. Its sacrilegious.

I have no idea what it's called but I can tell you exactly where it is. lol

Across the street from the P&C on East Genesee in Dewitt, there's a plaza with a laundromat, Chinese Restaurant, a few other little shops that are always changing... and a Kosher deli. That's their specialty. I think the sign in front has an enormous pickle across the sign... you can't miss it. AWESOME pastrami sandwiches there. And egg salad- I love egg salad sandwiches but they've made it a delicacy. Yum.

As for bagels, I wouldn't even attempt it. There isn't a place to get really good bagels in Syracuse... hot and almost crispy on the outside, soft and doughy inside... lots of flavor... nope. Poughkeepsie would be the nearest -lol - except that I just found out about a place in Utica called Bagel Grove. People get off the Thruway to pick up bagels there.

The knishes at Wegmans are not too bad, Pickles has pretty good ones also.

Pickles used to be a real Kosher deli. It changed hands several years, and now is a "kosher style" deli. Its not nearly as good as it used to be. Kind of sad.

Much of the pizza available in Manhattan is not what it used to be but there are still some great pizza joints in Manhattan and the outer boroughs. That said - I agree that Johnny's and Pavone's are the best local representation of that style (I think of it as Staten Island Neapolitan style but NY Style has a better ring to it!).

And no - not everyone in Syracuse thinks twin Trees is great pizza. They could cut it into conventional slices and I still wouldn't like it - it's just a style of pizza that I don't care for.

Really good bagels went away when Dewitt Bagelry went belly up. I think Bruegger's are about as good as it gets locally and they're just "okay".

Pickles Deli used to be great but last time I tried a pastrami sandwich from there - about two years ago - it was pitifully scarce on ingredients, average quality of meat and crazy expensive. Have not been back since.

Glad I'm not the only one who just doesn't get the popularity of Twin Trees pizza.
