Scammer in the Syracuse area (Camillus, Chittenango: buying, school, university)

Over the past summer some friends and i have had several interactions with a con man around Syracuse. The first encounter happened outside of a restaurant in Camillus, where a tall man in his 20's with light brown hair approached us claiming he was from Chittenango and out of gas, and wanted to know if we could spare a few dollars so he could get home. One of my friends gave him some money and he went on his way and we didnt think much of it, but over the next couple of weeks we encountered him 3 more times, telling the same story each time! From talking to people who work in various stores/restaurants around Camillus, we had found out that he was pretty well known and frequently spent his days driving from parking lot to parking lot getting money from people. So by the 4th time we saw him we had had enough. We split into two groups, one followed the man as he visited 5/6 stores/parking lots asking for money, and the other went to the police. Sure enough they had received lots of complaints about this man and assured us that what he was doing was illegal, and with the first group relaying his location to the second, he was pulled over ticketed for a variety of offenses. The police thanked us and told us to call if we spotted him doing this again. We were fairly happy with this result and considered the matter closed. That is until we recently heard that this guy was active again, pulling the same scam, this time he had been seen in the Liverpool and SU hill areas. If you see this man, please contact the authorities right away! Dont allow him to swindle other people, help us stop this grifter!

I know exactly who you are talking about! My husband and I were in the syracuse university area buying my school books and he approached us with the same story. My husband was skeptical and decided to just give him 1$. I told my husband that we should have given him more, but I guess he was right. I thought he was a student. I am going to alert syracuse university regarding this.

Yes He got me too. He drives some high end car and I think it may have had Ca plates but I do not remember--maybe he said he was from Ca and trying to get back. Can't remember . He was at a gas station off of 81 (the one that is directly south of the Lafayette exit-I am a student and was headed to Canada and had to stop at the station for gas and he came up to me). Lets try to get his license plates and post them all over the place. If you get his plates I think you can get his names since I think plates are a matter of public record.

ive got both the plates and car model, its a white buick (dont know the year) and the plate is "enl 7113" im not sure how to go about getting his info from the plates tho, i looked online and all the sites required money and i wasnt sure if they were scams or not
