Can anyone recommend a doctor? (Syracuse, Manlius: university, medical center, reviews)

I am looking for a doctor in the Manlius, Fayetteville area. I have asked several neighbors, but everyone, and I REALLY mean EVERYONE, that I have asked cannot recommend their own doctor! Everyone seems to be completely unimpressed with their physician. I am hoping for a Family Practitioner. I would appreciate some help.

Dr. Allan Birnbaum in Fayetteville. He's been my doctor since birth and my parents, nine of us kids, and my own husband and children go to him. We love him! Older (but not old) Jewish doctor with good humor and an abundance of common sense.

I don't know if he's accepting new patients though... definitely call and ask. (315)637-7878

I use Dr. Vinny Frechette. He *used* to be in Manlius, until Upstate Medical Center pulled their facility out of the Manlius Medical Building. Now he's at the Medical Building at 550 Harrison Street, right where Harrison meets I-81.

Great bedside manner, very competent. Very honest, which I appreciated... For example, I'm on blood pressure medication, and I asked him how long i'd have to take the pills, and he said, "do you plan on changing your diet and lifestyle? no? then, pretty much forever". I've been going to him for 11 years, so I've gone through my entire adult life with him as my physician.

I guess he's technically an internist, not a family practitioner, but its darn close. Really highly recommend him.
