One of my issues about Apple has been the pricing. For the average consumer looking at laptops, Apple's cheapest is $1,000. I can get a Windows laptop for half that price. So why would the average consumer choose an Apple?
With the tablets, for now anyway, Apple has flipped the script. They have the cheapest one now.
Why would anyone get a Xoom over an iPad just comparing them side by side???
Stupid pricing there.
Apple will continue to dominate this market because the Xoom is far the only true iPad competitor and it's $200 more?
There are other tablets out there but they have 7" screens. Not true competition.
The Xoom is a bit more and it has a lower quality screen, less OS integration, etc etc... I understand that Motorola is trying to go upmarket with its devices, but I don't see why it is using lower quality components in the process and still charging more.
Yes, I was surprised at how high the Xoom was priced...I thought they were going to be a little more competively priced...I didnt necessarily think they would be lower, but definitely more competitive...
I like android on a smart phone. Its just not ready for primetime as a tablet OS. The wild wild west mentality of open source programming will also allow it to be more susceptible to viruses and malware.
Then you have the overall quality of Android Devices. Most of them are just shoddy crap. Even the higher end tablets just cant match the quality of the ipad.
wish I could say I was impressed by some of the smart phone hardware running android. Most of it feels cheap and un-ergonomic. The DroidX feels solid, but has a form factor that just misses.
^^ I have to disagree...I love the Droid X's form...but I know it is a subjective thing...
