I have desktop computer with Windows 7--Gateway hard drive
I have an IPhone 4 and recently got an IPad--
I have a WiFI connection to ATT Uverse Internet--

I can't download updates to my Iphone or download apps via the ITune on my hard drive
I get message after a few seconds saying my "connection has timed out"
I am having no trouble currently getting on the Internet or surfing
I downloaded a Windows update yesterday w/o any problems

my ITunes says that the "connectivity" with my OS is with a Windows program but not Windows 7--althought that is what I bought when I bought this hard drive about a year ago and have downloaded updates to it periodically

I got ITunes when i got my IPhone--around April or so--
never used it before--don't have Ipod even now...

I had someone at the ATT store set up my IPad--not at Apple or Best Buy (where my husband got it) because we use ATT not Verizon
she did not ask anything about what OS system I had...

any suggestions that someone who is as IT challenged (as I am) can follow would be appreciated--

It sounds like you have a firewall that is blocking the application. Check your security settings.

did and hooked up

If you open the security program you can add iTunes to a whitelist so it can get through in the future.
