We have an original iPad, and I'm ready for a new one.

Hubby says he can use our credit card loyalty points to get me one, but they say things like "3rd or 4th generation."

What does that mean? Does it mean they are refurbished? Or, does it mean they are iPad version 3 or 4?

Thanks bunches! Jules

The newest is the 4th generation. It's faster and more powerful than previous generations. The 3rd generation is almost as fast and powerful, but falls slightly short of the 4th generation's specs. The 4th also has a different connector on the bottom. The 3rd still uses the same connector your 1st generation iPad uses.

Yep. What he said.
The confusing thing is Apple stopped numbering them. So the latest iPad will always be just: iPad.
There was iPad, iPad 2, then iPad. Then a newer version, also called: iPad. (Technically 3rd and 4th).

Ooooo, tell us how you like it! I've been thinkin' about getting one, but I don't really need it; I've got a newer iMac w/ Mountain Lion and my iPhone.

But iPads are fun; I played with one at the Apple store and now I want it. . .

Oh, I love them!! And, I just bought a new wireless printer, so now I can print from it too!

We have an original one, but I couldn't get Amazon Prime Instant videos to play, nor could I get it to connect to iCloud so I could check emails ... so it was time for a new one!! I already uploaded both Amazon Instant and Netflix and can watch movies on both!! Yay!

Yay for you on the iMac!! Mine is an older model, but I love it!!

HUGz! Jules
