Hi guys ... I am looking for an app or a website that allows me to watch 'live' streaming news from ABC, CNN or any other news channel. I know there is Hulu Plus, but I'm hoping to find something free, just until we get Direct TV installed in the new house in a few days.

I'm going nuts not having access to any news!

Thanks bunches, Jules

I'm not sure if it's possible.

I know I was trying to watch CNN (or some other channel) live from their website a while ago and I had to put in my account number from my cable provider, to prove that I wasn't trying to watch it without paying for a cable subscription (which is exactly what I was trying to do).

And the local networks like ABC or NBC are more geared towards local news that will be different all over the country.

And Hulu Plus doesn't have any news content to my knowledge, aside from things like National Geographic documentaries.

Your best bet is to probably just buy an antenna for your television. I picked one up for $7 a Target and get all of the local networks in high def.

We're now hooked up with DirectTV and all is well. I never did find a place to actually watch live news on the iPad, but I survived. LOL

Try your local TV news channel's website. I was checking mine out last night and after a lot of digging, I found a menu for local streaming news and links to CNN, ESPN apps for mobile.

Some sites stream news, but usually only for big events like the State of the Union. You can also find a lot of clips archived. I don’t have a TV, but I watch the PBS News Hour on my iPad every night. It’s usually uploaded a couple of hours after the broadcast.

Most other apps only have selected segments archived. I suspect it’s because don’t know how to monetize streaming and they fear it will cut into cable subscriptions. They’re probably right.
