I have heard this can happen with some tablets. Try this:
Turn it off.
Lay it FLAT on a table.
Turn it ON while it is laying flat.

Not sure if this works on the Asus but I've heard it works on some Toshiba ones.

Just tried it a couple of times, but no joy. I also tried the hortizontal, figure-8 method I've seen mentioned elsewhere. One of the horizontal axes is kinda stuck. Appreciate the help, though.

I'm worried it's a Brand problem because I love the Skyview app (works well on my smaller Droid phone) and am considering getting the new Asus Memo Pad. The specs seem to be similar - screen size, processor is quad core, memory, etc. I'd not like to waste my time getting another Asus if this is a problem they all carry. That's the reason I was asking about the Galaxy in another thread, and if anyone has had similar issues with Samsung.

I bought some JVC headphones and they work great on the Nexus 7. I also am waiting for a small pair of Sony PC speakers to try out on the tablet.

Great, do they have good volume? I bought Skull candy buds with mine and although they sound great, their not as loud as some cheapos I had laying around.

Talking about Google SkyMap, right?
Installed it last night. It does act a little wonky.
I bet it has something to do with the app not being designed exactly for a tablet judging by how it seems off. Had my phone next to it while moving it around and yea, way better on the phone.
And the fact that I have a few gyroscope games that work fine.

Have you tried any other apps?
Try downloading a Gyroscope checker or a game that works with the gyro and try it.
