Cheeper is one thing, but a $600 laptop from Apple will never happen.

And Apple would be in a race to the bottom with Dell and HP. There’s no margin in low-end computers.

The new HTC ONE is only one android phone on the market that exceeds Apple in build quality.

Samsungs have some pretty neat features, but the overall build quality is pretty crappy (as with most android phones)

And you think they WANT that? I mean is Apple hurting, businesswise, in anyway?

Apple’s profits exceed the entire PC industry - SlashGear

Apparently not, so if their business model is working BETTER than the windows machine companies are, why would they do what is making other companies less money?

No. As I said , they prefer to be the "nichey" product.

To become #1 and put MS in 2nd place? They are the only ones in any kind of a position to do that. TO make serious inroads into business?
And they have something that HP, Dell and the others don't have to help offset the costs of producing a cheaper alternative: iTunes.

As I said I WISH they would do this. Me, Mr. Anti-Apple. Not.
Never said I expect them to.

Can you find 3 reasons why to choose Apple?
1) Better hardware design
2) Better software design/quality
3) Better support

Done.

The price argument falls apart if one is interested in purchasing quality hardware. Notice how the poster who tried to make the MBP look dramatically more expensive picked a consumer-grade Dell and compared it to Apple's latest greatest MBP with a 2880 x 1800 display.

The old method of camparison was to say that a Windows machine had more software applications available - which was true, but most were total junk aps that are now relagated to the bargain bins at the local dollarstore.

When you're comparing it to a consumer-grade Dell, sure. But there's certainly PCs that beat Macs in those three areas. Macbook quality doesn't hold up to ThinkPads. Apple support doesn't hold up to IBM support. Stop comparing low end PCs to Macs. It makes no sense.
