I had decided that this was the one I want. And then I saw the release date and if I buy one I need it sooner than they'll likely get it to me... I want to take it with us when we travel.

So I guess I'll keep waiting.

What's the release date?

This is one thing I do appreciate about Apple. Almost every iPhone (I think they only DIDN'T do this once) and iPad was announced on say a Monday. Available to order on Thursday. Within DAYS of the announcement the device was available. This is the way to do it.

I'm going to call their toll free number and ask if they will ship close to that date and if the free 2 day shipping applies. If that's all good I may go ahead and order one as it would be here before we leave on our trip.

Seriously, Tek, you may want to get the Nook HD+.
The Sony IS my favorite Tablet on the market, it is the one to beat right now, but as I posted in that other thread, now that the Nook supports Google Play? This cannot be understated. That is huge. I always liked the Nook a smidge more then the Kindle, but now: it destroys it.
AND it is on sale this week only.
$209 for a 9 inch tablet with 32GB memory onboard? And an SD Card slot.
$90 off this week only.
Now I have NOT seen the Nook OS lately, so I can't really comment on that. But if there's a B&N near you, you should check it out.

BARNES & NOBLE | NOOK HD+ Tablet - All New

Unless, of course, you like the water "proofness" of the Sony. No one has that.
Submersible up to 3 feet for 30 minutes... just amazing...

Eh, maybe not. Just told a friend with a Kindle tablet about this. She made a good point.
Her big gripe about Kindle is no Google Play Store. I told her about this. She replied:
"That is a good deal, but after owning the Fire HD, I've realized my next tablet will be a true Android Tablet. Not these "Android buried under a retailers OS" tablets.""
LOL

So if you want that real "Anbdroidness" keep shopping or get the Sony. But if you don't mind the Nook interface....

I decided long ago that the Amazon and B&N tablets were a no for all the obvious reasons.

And now I see the Galaxy has it's price dropped to $449.00. Gee, I wonder...

Price war? I may wait just to see if they get into it.

I ordered the Sony along with a cover and a quick charger. Last week, I got a large-box delivery from Sony. I thought that somehow the delivery date got moved up. Wrong. All they sent in a box big enough for several tablets was just the charger. A little disappointing and confusing. Why not just wait and send it all at once. It would certainly all fit in this big box. Am looking forward to getting it after Memorial Day. This is my first tablet and I just hope I can figure out how to work it.
