And they are not screwing around.

If I did not already have a tablet, I would pre-order this one.

They did not cut corners on this one.
This is the 10 inch tablet to beat right now.
  • It's a Universal Remote Control
  • Quad Core 1.5 GHZ Processor
  • 2 GB Onboard RAM
  • The Thinnest Tablet in the world
  • SD Card Expansion Slot

I've been trying to figure out if I can configure it to connect to the Internet through my cell service (Verizon Droid x and Droid 2) but can't. Any idea if it will?

If you mean through the HotSpot feature of your Phones to get internet access that way? Yes.
You can't get a separate data plan for it to get access on its own.

Re: Service plan. I would maybe consider a service plan if it was a 3 year deal that covers a broken screen. That's really all that breaks on these things.

Thanks. That's what I thought but every time I research that I just get confused. It seems no one can give a simple explanation.

And it's appreciated. Considering how much of a geek I am I can't believe that tablets and cell phone mess with me like they do.

I noticed that Samsung has $50 off one of it's models at a bunch of stores today. A response the the Sony announcement, or cleaning out supplies for a new tablet release? Hmmmmmm.....

Is there a 7 inch version? I carry my Nexus 7 in a pocket to listen to audiobooks while walking down the street. I would not buy a 10 inch. The defect with the Nexus is lack of a microSD slot.

Of the Sony, no. As this is Sony's first serious attempt to crack the tablet market (pun intended), I imagine IF this one does well, a 7" will surely follow.
