If so how is it as a useful device? Any odd problems? Any rave reviews? General comments?

I've been looking at the Acer and Asus 10".

Appreciate it.

I have the ThinkPad Helix Tablet: Tablet Laptop Hybrid: ThinkPad Helix Ultrabook Laptop - Free Shipping | Lenovo (US)

It's my primary "machine" at home and I like it alot. The keyboard comes in really handy when you need it and the portability of the tablet is extremely convenient.

Getting around the traditional Windows desktop UI with the touchscreen is sometimes a PITA because your finger is just not accurate enough to hit the little triggers. I find myself using the stylus a lot. The dock has a trackpoint which is a godsend. Windows 8.1 is supposed to fix this shortcoming but I haven't tested it out.

Other than that, it's like any other Windows 8 system. It's as fast as my laptop (they have the same CPU - i7-3667). Battery is decent at 6 hours without keyboard, 10 hours with keyboard. If I were in the market now, I'd wait for a haswell-based tablet so I can go longer between charges.

In Windows 8 and 8.1 you can adjust individual system control over pull down menus and other common triggers to make it much easier to use.

That ThinkPad looks great, but expensive.

Yea, the price is high. The specs are probably overkill if you don't plan on using it as a computer as well.

Why do some people prefer an Windows RT tablet and not a Windows 8 tablet?

BTW, they moved the Surface Pro 2 release date to December.

Cheaper, longer battery life, and typically smaller form factor. While Windows RT is a great OS, the tablets that use it aren't doing so well.

Excuse NJBest, he works for Microsoft.
No one prefers an RT as evidenced by the sales figures.
