after debating over the idea of owning a tablet for over a year LOL i bought a samsung galaxy note 10.1 16 gb through verizon wireless. i must say that i'm really impressed with thae tablet the windows move flawlessly and the internet is blazing fast. the only drawback that i have found on this table is the camera isn't as good as the cam on my s4 oh yea and shame on you samsung for putting such a short cord with a beautifull tablet. i bought it so i can have something to do while i sit with my uncle while he's at his doctors apt but now i'm also finding out that i don't even turn the pc on anymore i just grab the tablet and power it up. samsung said that it will work on gsm networks like the s4 will do also so thats a plus for when i travel

Tablets are mini laptops that cost more, do less, are hard to hold, run less software, and are hard to type with.

I think your linkage is flawed here.

IMO, mini laptops (Netbooks) are underpowered computers that slowly do what real computers do, but fit into your pocket... if you're wearing cargo pants or some other garment with really big pockets!

Tablets, OTOH, are bigger-screened smartphones that don't make calls.

The classic truism is that computers are better for making content and tablets are the better choice for consuming it. It sounds like the OP is a content consumer.

I love my tablet, and it is the original XOOM.

I would upgrade the tablet before I would buy a new laptop to replace my 7 year old E1705.

But tables are quite portable compared to laptops.
