I have an ipad and just now I put in a known web address and a bunch of pornographic pictures popped up instead--I know I put in the right address. I backtracked really fast but I'm wondering how that could have happened? I had the same thing happen on my desktop the other day when I inadvisedly clicked on a link that someone posted on this site, so that may have had something to do with it. Could I have a virus? And yes, obviously I'm not tech savvy at all but I sure would like to know how to fix this--it's embarrassing. The link I clicked on was over on the education forum and it was about getting Rosetta Stone for free in case anyone is wondering.
Are you sure that the link was good? I'd sooner suspect the link than the device. It sounds like a spammer trick to me.
I would have suspected that also but I already had the site up on my desktop and wanted to show it the article to the kids at school but I can't actually get the internet on my ipad at school. So what I do is load the article onto my ipad first I can show the pix at school but when I did, I got that surprise. The website is The Slightly Warped Website and I made sure I got it all correct first and when I put the web address into my desktop it comes up exactly as I expected. The website is quite similar to another one I enjoy--dark roasted blend.
I was able to put the website on my ipad but I did it by doing a yahoo search with the name of the article.
Yeah, you seem to have malware on your ipad. Avast has a free anti-virus for it, but you may need more than that.
Wow, do you think it came from that website I clicked on with my desktop the other day? Since I have cloud, could it have traveled over? I haven't had any more problems with the DT. I will look into avast but I hope it's not complicated b/c I'm so not computer savvy and have a new job that is taking up pretty much all of my time. Uh, people who do this stuff are so slimy.
I doubt it's Malware. You had to mistype the address. This is very common. A spammer will buy an address that is frequently mistyped and put bogus content on it.
This is a good example: http://www.applw.com/
(Link is safe, no malware on it)

For the iPad? I know they've got a "secure connection" app - not an antivirus program - but I believe that requires a subscription after the trial period.
