With the Nexus 7 FHD for $149 that NHDave posted earlier in this thread, these seem like a bad value.

She wants this device to

Something that will fit in a large purse
Thats all i can remember..

Based on what you've indicated, it look like your best option is the iPad Mini. It's easy to use and should fit in a large purse.

iPad mini - Buy iPad mini with Free Shipping Apple Store (U.S.)

The Mini doesn't make phone calls.

Here's a comparable Android:

ASUS Nexus 7 FHD 7" 32GB Tablet PC (Second Generation) - Newegg.com

Nearly any tablet will do everything you mentioned. You really need to decide on the size. Is 7" big enough? Or would she prefer 10"? Personally I think 10's are where it's at. Would still fit in a large purse.

No phone calls is ok but do they have the capability to text?

this is a great suggestion it's a premium tablet with top of the line specs but with rumors circulating about Nexus coming out with a new 8 inch tablet soon. it could be had brand new for about $150. which makes it the best deal out there right now.

here Ebay has it for $169
Google Nexus 7 16GB Wi Fi Tablet 2013 2nd Generation 886227534906 | eBay

but if you shop around i bet you can beat that.

The iPad mini has the ability to text. It's a better choice for someone who owns the prequel to computers for dummies.

However, the Nexus 7 (2013 edition) is a great tablet as well.
