Ipad. You can get a 16 GB iPad 2 for about $300. It still beats the heck out of any of the knock-offs.

I wouldn't recommend a last generation iPad... actually 2 gen's old ... to anyone.

I don't know. I just updated my ipad 2 to ios 7.1 and it is snappier than it was. It had gotten slow, and I was ready to upgrade. Now, I can put it off for a while.

Yea but ios8 is coming out this fall and iPad2 will not get it. So if you bought a 2 TODAY, you'd be sad when you can't get the next update. Future proof is always better. Worth the extra $200 for an Air if you're sold on an Apple.

Good point, but I meant that I could put off the upgrade until the next new thing comes out instead of doing it now.

I'm not denigrating the 2 at all. My wife has one and we probably won't get her a new tablet for a very long time. But if I were buying new I WOULD want the latest model.
