I did the downgrade back to 7.1.2 on my iPad 2. It's back to it's usual speedy self. I'm waiting for others with the iPad 2 to give their experience with 8.02 or later before re-upgrading.
I followed a site I found on Google. However, it i too late to downgrade now. Apple stopped signing the software. It is necessary for it to be signed for it to load on to your iPad. I did mine before that happened. Still not hearing good reports about 8.02 on the iPad 2, so I'm not re-updating yet.
I've got to say that I am pleasantly surprised that 8.02 works pretty good on my iPad 2 now. I had to restore it to factory settings using itunes, though. After that, restoring from a backup and re downloading apps, all works pretty good now. Why did I do it? I had downgraded back to 7.1.2, and while it worked well, i had lost access to my icloud because I had switched to icloud drive earlier when upgrading the first time. I needed that access. I researched Apple forums and found that doing the restore, and all that would help. It did. I'm glad because I can't afford a new one right now.

IIRC, a jailbreak was required to go in reverse, last I checked.

I didn't have to jailbreak when I did it. To do it now, you would probably have to, but I've never done it.
