You simply must have taken something he said or how he looked at you the wrong way. There is NOTHING odd about charging any device over night. This is perfectly normal and acceptable. You can leave a tablet plugged in 24/7/365 if you want to. This does not hurt it.

I suppose the thing could have just failed and fried. It happens sometimes. But you leaving it plugged in over night was not what caused that...

Thanks for that definitive answer---I probably fried the sucker and will buy one for myself.

Which tablets would you recommend I consider buying. for less than $150.00?

Just stick with the name brands. For the price range you're looking at 7 inch tablets.

Amazon.com : ASUS ZENPAD Z170C-A1-BK 7" 16 GB Tablet : Electronics

Few $$$'s more get a 32GB one:

It's a start for the OP.

Feel free to post what you think one should get for under $150.

The prevailing opinion from several Best Buy CSRs at various locations is that I should stick with Samsung Galaxy tablets, an opinion also shared by various Office Depot sales reps as well.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 with a 7 inch screen is on sale this week for $149.99 at Office Depot, marked down from $179.99.
