I need to update my garmin map, but the internal drive does not have enough space for updated map file.

1. What is the maximum size of SD card can my Garmin support? I would like to buy one with as much space as possible, since they make the map file size bigger and bigger. Hope the SD card can be used for future map.

2. Please recommend a SD card with reasonable price?

Thanks.

Google your specific Garmin model number to find on-line it's Users Manual, which would have the specifications. That should tell you the maximum size of mSD chip it can support.

This varies from device to device, and may even vary based on the devices internal operating software, so it's best to just look it up. (I then mark the results on the inside of the battery door with a Sharpie so I'll not have to do it again later)

It doesn't tell the size limitations. In fact I can't find the info anywhere. Perhaps I'm being a bit slow today.

Edit: This might be your best solution.

Nope, you're not slow, the manual you showed answers your question, (mostly), but only if you know what all those acronyms mean.

Short Answer:
It means that your GPS should be able to support a memory card up to 32 GB memory capacity.
Good news, as these cards are very cheap, and 32 GB is a LOT of memory.
There is another term you need to know, "Class". This is how fast it can read / write. This used to be important as cheaper chips were slower, but the prices have plummeted so much this is unimportant now.
Just get the fastest: "Class 10".
Also, sometimes you buy a microSDxx and it comes with an "adapter". This is just a sleeve with the electrical connections so the "micro"SD card can be used in a "miniSD"xx or "SD"xx device. They typically cost nothing extra. But in the last few years, most devices have standardized on the microSD size.

Also, you mentioned a "Flash Drive" That is typically the name used for a memory stick that is self-contained and used to stick into a PC or laptop via a USB slot. It has memory inside, but also acts like an external hard drive. This is NOT what your device can use. Your Garmin needs a chip that is only memory.

Examples: MicroSDHC, 32 GB, Class 10:
Amazon, $5-10:

Walmart: $12
Samsung MB-MP32DA/AM EVO 32GB microSD Class 10 Memory Card - Walmart.com

Best Buy: $13
Kingston 32GB microSDHC Class 10 Memory Card Black SDC10G2/32GB - Best Buy

Long Answer:
Your manual, page 17: "The device supports microSD and MicroSDHC memory or data cards"

What they didn't say is what all those letters mean.
SD = "Secure Digital", the actual standard describing the memory chip's shape.
microSD means the memory chip is the extra small physical size and shape, (they call that Form Factor), about the size / shape as your small finger's fingernail.

and the extra letters show how much memory it can handle:

microSD aka microSDSC: "Standard capacity" (up to 2 GB)
microSDHC: "High Capacity" (up to 32 GB)
microSDXC: "Xtra Capacity" (up to 200 GB)

from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure...ompatibilities
(Look for the table, then it's bottom right corner cell)
