So I wanted to be able to transfer files between my tablet while at work and my Mac at home. I got AndFTP from GooglePlay, installed it, configured it, gave it the IP of my Mac, and tried to connect. I end up connected to the tablet I'm trying to FTP from, which doesn't work for me at all. I need to connect to my Mac, not the same device I'm on. What might I be doing wrong? I gave it the IP of my Mac, but my tablet just connects to itself.

Do you have an FTP server installed and configured on the Mac?

Yes I do indeed, and I tried a different FTP client, and it works just fine for getting files from my Mac to my tablet, but now there's a new wrinkle... I download a video or song, and it plays on the tablet when the transfer is completed, but for the life of me I cannot find it anywhere on the tablet with my file manager or in the Android File Transfer window on my Mac, which looks at both internal storage and the microSD card on the tablet.

If I select Local in the app, it shows the folder /storage/emulated/0/Download. When I look in that folder after downloading a file from my Mac, there's nothing in it! I tried creating a new folder named FTP and pointing the app at that, but nothing ever ends up in there either! I get the files, and they play on my tablet as soon as the download is complete, but I can't find them on it for the life of me. I have seen a huge long pathname on files I've downloaded, but that path is nowhere on my tablet. A file I got is supposed to be in:

/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.zifero.ftpclient/cache/845f06addb.....

I can get to /Android/data, but that's where it ends, and there is no com.zifero.ftpflient etc... I see this in OI File Manager, but I can't get to the file or move it or anything.

....I'm stumped...

And now I've run into something else. I can't pick a file off my tablet with this FTP client, and send it to my Mac. If I select a video file the FTP client plays it! Not at all what I want it to do, I want to send it to my Mac, but this client won't do that.

..... my head hurts now....
