Specifically, I'd like to know about city permits, taxes etc. Is there ample help for starting a business from the city?

Apply for a permit today, and you might get it 6 months to a year from now. So much red tape, and and impact fees you wouldn't believe. Depends on how big you're trying to go I suppose. Just don't expect anyone in city hall to be helpful.

Not a troll, just someone who happens to do business in Tallahassee relating my personal experiences.
Its a nightmare to operate and do business with the city of Tallahassee.
I suppose those of you that have lived with it your entire life have no problem with it, but as someone who operates in multiple states, I can tell you that Tallahassee is one of the worst cities to do business with.
When people say "typical government employees" in a negative manner, I think they're talking about the people that run Tallahassee.
And do you have much experience with permits, zoning, and ordinances in the city? I do it almost everyday, so I have a very valid opinion on the subject.
