I am moving to Tally next week and needs to connect electricity in my new apt. I called the leasing office and was told that most people here use City of Tallahassee Electricity. I then went on to their website and noting that there is a whopping $160 deposit......never experienced such deposit before....also it seems that for monthly bill I have to pay $4.5 western union fee??? this does not make sense.

Could anyone please recommend an electricity company? Thanks a bunch.

You do not have a choice as to which electric company to use, it all depends on where you live. Most areas inside the Tallahassee city limits receive their utilities through the city of Tallahassee. Some areas receive their utilities through Talquin but that is usually just areas that are outside of the city limits. Yes, there is a large deposit. The Western Union fee is if you pay your bill online.

We are on Talquin Electric and the deposit is quite hefty!!! Something we weren't prepared for, around $380. It's 2 deposits actually, water and electric.

Just pay by old school mail or drop off the bill at a payment center to avoid the fee.. you get the deposit back eventually if you pay your bills on time.
