Hahah, sounds like a plan man.

So many people make the mistake of overlooking Tallahassee at first because they hear about the bigger cities....

Then usually they get tired of the lifestyle and 10 years later they move here.

Its a great place, and im sure you will love it.

I would look for housing in the area roughly between Northwest Capital Circle and North Monroe St, north of I-10. That is one of the few areas in town where the traffic has not gotten prohibitive. There is easy access to downtown on Monroe St., and once you learn the cut-through streets, to shopping east of town. Where you wind up working will dictate where you want to live, probably, the biggest reason to rent for 6 mos to a year as you find your way around.

Being from Michigan, you will not mind the winters here. If fact, you will probably enjoy the few "cold" days that we have in the winter. Air conditioning is mandatory, preferably central air. The nearest beach is not 18 miles south. It's closer to 38 miles (from the center of town), a 45 minute drive on mostly two-lane roads. Driving 50-100 miles west once you get to the beach, you will find an incredible water scene that resembles the Caribbean!

Look for a job with a private employer or with one of the universities (or the Jr. Colleges).
