Particularly within the Finance and Defense industries? I'm particularly speaking of office type jobs (analysts, managers, etc...).

I don't know specifics of the fields you are asking about.

I do not know about those particular industries, but I do a lot of research about unemployment rates across the state and the Tampa Bay area is about equal to the state level of 11.7%. The only particular industries that are experiencing growth are public sector industries such as education or state jobs. Private sector jobs like office type jobs are still extremely hard to find and when jobs are listed, the flood of resumes and applicants is crazy. So hirers are able to hand-pick highly experienced, over-qualified candidates. 2011 is expected to be the year where everything bottoms out and then the end of 2011 and 2012 should begin the true recovery.

I know I always see many jobs posted for work at MacDill. Check employflorida.com

All depends on your skill set, unemployment is still high but there are jobs out there.

I second the MacDill recommendation. Especially in Finance and Defense.

I know my company is hiring BIG TIME for the rest of the year; primarily Tech Jobs; Project Managers, etc. I would say things are picking up. I myself just moved down here from New York 3 months ago after finding a decent job!

Keep hiring temp Census workers 3 times each, and keep dropping people from unemployment roles when they are no longer eligible. Eventually the official unemployment level will be less than 1%!
