A year ago today the DJI was 1565 points lower, and was back up over 11K in April, the highest since June of 2008. the DJI is back in line with what it was running steady at in 2000-2006... although it is less stable now then it was 4-5 years ago.

In April, home prices were up 3.8% from a year ago, nationwide. The housing market is NOT stable, and the increase in home prices were likely due to the large tax credits, it doesn't change the fact home prices are up nationwide.

Unemployment peaked in January of 2010 at 10.4%. from January through May there has been a steady decrease in unemployment claims. The unemployment rate is down to 9.3%. Florida's has dropped from 12.3% to 11.2% in the same period of time. While these numbers slightly reflect a decrease in unemployment due temporary employees working on Census 2010. Private sector payroll employment edged up by 83,000

On a personal note, I lost my job a few weeks ago where I was making over double the Tampa, FL median income. I was able to land an interview AND offer for another job in the same industry at a 16% pay increase within 48 hours.

Who isn't paying attention?

Good Day.

The census jobs accounted for the drop in unemployment. They are now winding down.

We will now have millions of Americans who have exhausted their unemployment as of this month and there is no extension planned.

Florida is worse off than most states as tourism and new construction have always been used in past recessions to pull out of the slump.

Not going to work this time.
