Hi!....I am planning on moving to Holiday,Fla. by the end of this year or early2007. I am having a house built. Can anyone tell me the down and dirty about this area? My daughter lives in Brandon and I want to move from Va. to be near her and grandchildren. Would love to know about hospitals nearby as I am a nurse and would still need to work. Any one hospital better than the next?..Would really appreciate all help!

Default Holiday, FL

This area has really started to go down. Lots of bikers & lowlifes. Homeowners insurance in this are has skyrocketed due to sinkholes. I would avoid West Pasco County altogether.

Brandon is over an hour from Holiday. I've lived in Holiday since 1984 and cant wait to leave. It's very run down and there's not much to do here. Everything is an hour or so away in Tampa. If you pick a hospital, you should go to Helen Ellis on alternate US 19 in Tarpon Springs.

Hi,
I grew up in Holiday and now live in neighboring New Port Richey. My parents still live in Holiday in the house I grew up in. Where is your house being built? Probably the best hospital around is Helen Ellis in Tarpon Springs. (Next to Holiday) There is also North Bay Hospital in NPR and HCA New Port Richey that are close to your location. The hospitals don't pay very well here you might want to consider private nursing or work for a specialist. Brandon is about an hours ride from here taking I75 baring any bad traffic jams from Tampa. I hope you have started building because I just read in our local paper that our impact fee's for new houses are going from $6,000 to $13,000 "ouch" Growing up in Holiday it was very nice but much has changed. The traffic is a complete nightmare and crime has risen, not to mention that Pasco County has the 2nd highest homeowners insurance premiums in the state second only to Monroe County, which is in the Keys. Hopefully your home is on the East side of US 19 then your homeowners insurance won't bankrupt you. My parents and brother are on the West side of 19 and my mom's ins is $3700 (3br 1800 sq feet) and my brothers is $8700 (2br 900 sq feet) I am on the East side of 19 and mine is $3200 (2200 sq feet 3br) Well that is the down and dirty of it. If you need more info let me know. I am a fourth generation Floridian that has always lived in the same area. My great-grandparents lived in Holiday and my grandparents in Clearwater, then NPR.

I dont know, my opinion is going to be a little bit different then you guys.

I went to visit Holiday FL and I havent been in Florida in 10 years. I really liked it. I dont think its a bad place, and its not dirty in my opinion. You have everything all around you, and hospitals are abundant.

Im going be moving there this summer.

I think that everything down there is cheap, considering I lived in NJ all my life and we have one of the highest prices on everything.

And the drive to Clearwater is about 20 minutes, Tampa 30-35 depending on where your going.

I think its a good choice..if not Holiday, Tarpon Springs is very nice.
