Default thinking of moving to florida

I think the St. Petersburg & Tampa area are a bit congested yet they do have a city type life, (many things to do). However Largo, Florida is much more tranquil yet close to the city life areas of Tampa,Clearwater & St.Pete.

If you have to make a living Texas is where the money is. You don't have to live in Dallas. You can live in communities between Dallas and Ft Worth. The population is younger in the Dallas FT Worth. If you are raising a family that is the place to be.
Texas may have its tornadoes and traffic and humid weather. But if I had to wear a 3 piece suit I would rather do it in Dallas than Florida. At least the weather gets cooler in September. Summers can be brutal here. The beaches aren't all that great when they are loaded with dead fish the result of red tide. Red Tide invades our beaches from the end of June thru Sept. It stings the eyes and can make you sick. When was the last time you were out boating on the water and experienced the burning eyes from desel fuel in the air. Even Claritin D won't help that.

Florida is great from the end of October -April.

We have plenty of "pooch parks" here where you can take your doggie to the beach.
Most of ST Pete is a safe place to live, but every place has some crime, some area's worse than others.

Regarding hurricanes, TX gets them too, and every place has something wheather its mudslides, tornados, hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis,.. etc, you will find geographical issues anywhere you go!

Rain, we get mid afternoon thunderstorms here and there, but this is not Oregon, and it is the "Sunshine State" after all.
Hope this helps you with your decision.
Katrina

Depending on what you do for work you may want to check out Dallas. For the 2nd straight year Forbes has voted Tampa the worst city for young professionals.

They are talking about it here http://www.city-data.com/forum/tampa...essionals.html

Plus, the pay is not that great either. I worked in Tampa for 3 1/2 years (lived in St. Pete) and moved up to Atlanta in May of this year. I am doing the EXACT same work here in GA that I did in Tampa (I.T. Networking) and I am making $22,000 MORE a year.

If you do decide on living in St. Pete, the south side (south of Central ave) is the rougher part. North St. Pete is much nicer. Check out the Pier and Baywalk in downtown St. Pete, it's really nice there!! I lived in North St. Pete for 3 1/2 years and loved it!!

You have quite a few beaches (Clearwater, Indian Rocks, Madeira, Reddington, St. Pete, Sand Key, Ft. DeSoto-which was my favorite and voted the #1 beach in the US in 2005, etc) that are a short drive from St. Pete. And the St. Pete area has all kinds of different festivals and outdoor concerts that go on also.

I truly didn't want to move, but got laid off, looked for a job for 5 months and money got tight so I had to move where I could get work. Even with me being in I.T. for over 11 years and having multiple higher level certifications, I just couldn't find work in the Tampa/St. Pete area.

Plus you can check out the city of St. Pete Beach also which is different than St. Pete.

My 2 cents - I have been to Dallas 3 times (twice to hang out, once for work). When I got back to work I asked my work cohort and friend, "So what do you do in Texas. No Mountains, flat, dry, expansive fields, the Gulf in Texas is ugly, etc....what do you do in Texas."

He couldn't answer me. After about the 5th time he finally said, "next tim you drive through there I am going to tell my friends to shoot you." He was joking, but to this day I still do not know what you do in Dallas/Texas.

Ever notice how many Texas travel to ski in Colorado or fish in Florida!

hi please move to dallas as we are leaving florida for good . Houses and property taxes are just too high . also dont move here if you have kids the schools are junky and if the kids go to school with a stain on their clothes the hrs ppl will investigate you . I know it happened to my sister and they lived in one of the best neighborhoods in tampa . The state will try everything they can to put your kids into foster care . Florida is the armpit of the united states and I will never move back here I am leaving next week for ky and am glad to be going . Hurricanes are causing this state to go downhill quick . I guess what I am saying is that this state blows really big . DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND MOVE TO DALLAS.

Wow, you are excessively pessimistic about Florida. Most of your posts are negative and overly exaggerated. If you can't contribute in an unbiased, helpful and honest manner, you should go elsewhere. I hope the moderator of this board is taking note.

It is obvious someone or entity "wronged" you during your time in Florida. There is more to your story.
