Default Help finding a good dentist? Lakeland, Brandon, Tampa, etc...

Hi!

I'm new to the forum

I have been trying to find a dentist that won't try to rip me off... I went to Coast Dental and they told me I needed a cleaning for $900 so... I need a different dentist even if it is just to get a second opinion.

I have Aetna DMO... so I think I'm only supossed to used the ones in network. I have been reading reviews about the ones I see on the list and they are all HORRIBLE!!!!
Does anyone know of any good dentist with Aetna DMO around Lakeland, Winter Haven, Tampa, Brandon, Valrico, Orlando, etc?
Or
Does anyone know of a better Dental insurance?

I am so desperate that I'm willing to travel up to an hour to find an honest dentist that won't try to rip me off

Thank you!!

Boy, I know what you mean. I went to a Coast Dental office in Zephyrhills when I lived in Dade City and it was HORRIBLE. Bad dentist, the rip-off cleaning that my insurance wouldn't pay for, etc. etc. I think it is universally agreed upon even by other dentists that Coast Dental is one of the worst out there.

I now live in Sarasota. My insurance is Humana CompBenefits and I am about to start a major treatment plan with a dentist from BayView Dental, who has 5 offices in the area, and accepts several insurance plans. I originally had estimates from an out-of-network dentist office who wanted to charge me over twice what this dentist is going to charge!

I believe they have a Bradenton office if you want to look into that one. I haven't had work done yet (start this week) but so far I am very pleased with prices and attitude by the dentist of not doing unnecessary procedures.

Good luck to you!

Hi Gypsychic,

Thank you for answering!
I'm glad I'm not the only one that knows that Coast Dental is crap.

Bradenton might be a little too far.... I'm in Lakeland now.
:-S Where are the other 4-5 offices? Are all of them down there?

Thank you!

Yes, they are all owned by the same dentist. Good luck, I have no recommendations around Lakeland, I would say just about anyone would have to be better than Coast, tho'......

Lol... I guess you are right, anything would be better... hopefully other dentists won't try to charge my $900 for a cleaning again.

Thank you for your help!

Thank you craigm1841,

I checked on Aetna online and my plan does not have Dr Patrino in network
If I can't find a good one "in network" I might go to that one, even though the "out of network" rates scare me.

Sorry. I have Aetna Premium. i was going to him under my Cigna PPO with my last job and just checked the other day with Aetna to see if he was in network. I figured with in-network doctors, it was the same across the all Aetna serivces. I thought the premium designator just allowed me to use out of network and not have to go to a general practicioner for a reference before going to a specialist. Maybe I was wrong

I would find and "in-network" dentist, because take it from me, the out of network costs will be double.

I have looked at all of the "in network" dentists and they are all Coast Dental or other Chains that have even worst reviews online...
The few dentists (2-3 only) they have that aren't in a dental chain have either bad reviews or are full.

I'm going to go crazy!!! I don't know which one to choose.
