Indiana-to-Florida is on a distinguished road
Default Need info on Spring Hill, Fl.

My husband and I are possibly locating to the Spring Hill area. Can anyway share information about this town (Spring Hill) and what all it has to offer such as shopping, resturants etc? Also how far is it to the beach and is this beach a nice one? I presently am a real estate loan manager/loan officer and will be looking for a job. Does this community have very many credit unions?
Thanks in advance.

Default Spring Hill

Spring Hill has plenty of shopping and restaurants. Two big hospitals, plenty of doctors and I believe there are a few credit union offices on Cortez in Spring Hill/Brooksville area. Best wishes.

The shopping is getting better and better everyday. We are getting a lot of new stores and restaurants are a plenty. The closest beach in Pine Island, it's small, and ok about 10 mins. away. I've only been there a couple of times. We tend to go to Clearwater or Fort DeSoto, to me it's worth the ride, it's only about 40 mins to an hour. The credit unions I know are Suncoast School FCU and MacDill FCU. I'm sure there are more but those are the two I know, there are banks all over the place. There are a ton of houses for sale and for rent so that will definitely not be a problem.

Default Spring Hill

There is now plenty of shopping in Spring Hill/Brooksville......over on 50 (Cortez Blvd)......now open are Marshalls, Old Navy, Panera Bread, Linens N Things, PetSmart will open shortly as will an Italian Ices Place. You have Ruby Tuesday, Carrabba's, Chic Fil A, Java Bean, up on US 19 there's Outback Steakhouse, Cody's, The Restaurant, Applebee's, Popeye's, Pizza Hut
Red Lobster.........of course you also have a Sam's Club, and 3 SuperWalmarts
to choice from.

There are two credit unions, McDill Credit Union on Mariner Blvd, and Suncoast Credit Union on Mariner Blvd across from McDill and one on US19.

We have our local "beach"??? Pine Island a small beach with play area, shelters and a nice little spot to get something to eat, nice people that run it.
Or you can go further South and in Hudson there's Hudson Beach, also small
or travel down US19 to Clearwater, lovely beach, but a pain to find parking
and pay for parking.

As someone said about housing........plenty to choose from approx. 4,300 homes for sale in the area, just ride up and down the streets to see for rent or for lease signs and many vacant.

Good Luck

To make a blanket statement like this is kind of, how can I put this, wrong.

I have had no problem with insurance in Hernando but then again I have an agent that works for me to get me the best rates around.

Not a blanket statement. MAke sure you are Educated before moving. Pasco/ Hernando counties are full of Sinkholes. Take an insurance class, look at the sinkhole map. I have been in Florida 22 years and an agent for 8. You have to research the area. Because you do not have a problem does not mean there is not one. What you think is a good deal....you would be surprised. And Agents do not search for the best deal. We are limited. If your agent is changing your insurance every year..you might want to get another agent.

It was a blanket statement. You said it was hard to get insurance in Hernando and Pasco.
I have not had a problem.
Now if you would have said, some parts of these counties can have a hard time based on the area and the construction and age of the home, then it would have been a valid statement.
Why would I need to take an insurance class? If you want to by a house should I tell you to get a R.E. lic.?
I understand that there are sinkholes in the area but for you to tell someone not to move here and to move to another area that also has sinkholes is ridiculous. I know they do not have as many incidences but they still have them.
When I said my agent finds me the best deal I meant it. Maybe you don't work at finding the best deal but I have 4 properties and I have been switching them over to this agent as they come up for renewal. In each instance I have given the same criteria to the current agent and the new agent I am working with and each time he has saved me money.
Now if you are that limited in your underwriters that you can not be competitive that is not reason enough to say agents do not search for the best deal. You may need to get with another agency.

Thank you !!....Mike Peterson.

My wife and I will be flying to the area on July 13th and will be looking for an area to live. Brooksville, Spring Hill, or in the area.

We will be looking for a nice subdivision w/newer homes any suggestions ?

Give me an example of property tax and insurance cost on say a $250,000 house. Feel free to PM me if you prefer to.

Thanks to all for the info.
