Which one is correct, just for my reference?
Appear to dominate much of the city. They do not dominate all of it. If you live in South Tampa it's not really an issue. If you live by USF, like I do, it is. If you want to argue semantics that's fine, but if you really think about it I wasn't contradicting myself.

We may be moving to Tampa and need to be near Oldsmar and Macdill...where would that be? We also need family friendly and safe.

They aren't too close together. Are you looking to buy or rent? What else is important to you?

You hit this one spot the hell on.
People complain about how its all so tough to make friends in Seattle, but not many places can be harder than the bay area of FL. In my experiences, its tough to make long lasting friends since many people leave and if your a transplant, the people who lived here forever don't wanna let you in either. Your in a little bit of a bind.

Road rage is also bad.. people don't honk, but many make many bonehead moves (tailgating, cutting you off) to the point honking at them feels wonderful.

As far as the other 3, they can vary. Tampa to me doesn't have more traffic than many other places and less than some if anything. Same goes for St Pete.

For groceries, just go to Save A Lot and then buy select expensive items other places. Thats how to solve that problem.

My 5:

Tough to make friends
Humidity
Materialistic rednecks (who ride your ass on the roads)
Too socially conservative (people may not always tell you their prejudices, but they leak out if you get into an altercation)
Terrible place to bikeride to stores or do errands

I got more too.

Why are English-only speakers in the USA so ego-centric? It won't hurt you to learn another language. Most, if not all, Europeans speak several languages. This country is so narrow-minded and self-centered at times. Language is protected against discrimination by freedom of speech, so deal with it or be miserable!

Yet people are fighting to get into our country from all countries around the world.

Wrong forum, by the way.

I live in Palm Harbor and lived in the Westchase area a few years ago...I don't have any encounters on a daily basis with non-english speakers.I used to live in NYC and encountered many different people speaking many languages...which do I prefer??? Living where I live now!I laugh when people here in Tampa get so bothered sitting in their nice air conditioned cars...ride a un-air conditioned subway car in August and then we'll talk.

Ive lived in FL over 20 years and I have never ran into a situation where someone did not speak English.

I agree on your subway car in August reference. Don't even need to be in a car. Just be waiting for a train on the lower level of West 4th/6th Avenue line.

Some here just don't know how good they've got it compared to other places.

I don't know why this thread was bumped by someone complaining about Americans not learning a second language and being "self-centered" - and I don't know how that applies to Tampa/STP. Are people in Tampa expected to speak foreign languages (Spanish for instance)?
