Hello, I've been living in seminole for all my life, Im 25 now. I dont like it around here, but I do really like downtown St, Pete. Ive been looking at apartments and some little houses to rent. My budget is 600$-700$ a month. I found a decent apartment on 4th ave s., but I also found a nice little house in Crecsent Heights about 5 minutes away from downtown. I would prefer to live in downtown, but I dont know anybody who has lived there. I know of the bums and the diverse community, and that doesnt bother me, but I just want to see if anybodies got any advice. What is it really like living in downtown? Would you prefer to live in Crescent heights? Thanks

I will answer this since no one else has. I used to live up there, and I lived downtown my first year (that was 8 years ago). Things are so much more built up there now, and everything looks very nice (I am still there quite often). I think it all depends on what you are looking for in your neighborhood. Would you like to be able to walk around downtown (dine, go to a movie, have a couple of drinks, shop, etc.) without having to use your car? Might you get a job there also? (not that you have to, but I always thought that would be great . . . and that is exactly what I did when I first came down to St. Pete - lived and worked downtown). Also, there is the Saturday Morning Market downtown from October through May. Living downtown was great! I walked everywhere, even to work. I walked to The Pier, downtown restaurants, North Shore Park, you name it. There is so much there. And now there is Baywalk. You can walk to a movie! The Crescent area is so nice, too, but you will need to use your car to go out and for recreation (unless you walk to something maybe on 4th Street). ? ? ? The questions left all have to be answered by you. It is all about what you want in your neighborhood and what you consider quality of life. Being young, if you enjoy going out and having a few drinks from time to time, I would think it would be nice to be able to meet friends for an evening out and then walk home without the worry of a DUI or worse: car accident. Good luck to you in whatever you decide.

I love downtown St.Pete and St.Pete Beach , it is amazing what they have done to revitalize the area over the last three - four years .
