Thanks all for you time.. I've read some great content from your site and would appreciate your feedback and help getting our family settled in the Tampa area.

My work has asked that I take a short term assignment (5 Months) starting Jan 1st... My work will be right next to the St. Petersburg / Clearwater Airport (just off of the Bayside bridge and 686)

We are a professional family, we own our home in Washington State, we have excellent credit.

Obviously, we would like to rent for this 5 months... Budget is up to 3000 / month (with utilities).

Schools are not a concern because we will be home-schooling but we would really like a neighborhood that has some younger kids for the girls (ages 5 and 7) to play with.

Looking for less then 45 minutes commute.

I understand the tax implications of a 5 month lease (i also understand that there might be some lease verbage that would allow me to by-pass these taxes and still allow me to only rent 5 months). We continue to scrub craigslist and have several realitors working to find us something but I would really like an unbiased view of the area.

Thanks in advance...

Andrew

Check out Safety Harbor. We are moving to the Tampa area shortly and have visited almost every neighborhood in the greater Tampa area. It is right off the Bayside Bridge so your commute will be a breeze. We have a 7 year old and chose this area because it seems very family friendly and safe with a little walkable downtown area. We saw a lot of activity i.e. parents hanging out while kids were playing, biking and walking, great Library and a more "progressive" vibe than other areas of Tampa.

We haven't moved yet so these are all impressions but we have done quite a bit of research. You will find some very nice houses in that price range!

Hope that helps.
